Finally, The Friday Five...

1. What's your favorite animal? Well, I'm rather partial to bears, myself.

2. What pets have you had in your lifetime? A few cats, and many, many dogs (of all breeds and cross-breeds). I also at one time or another had a pet parakeet and a ringnecked snake.

3. Is there any specific pet that you've wanted but never had? Why? I've always wanted a Basset hound. Outside of the dog/cat universe, I always wanted to have an iguana.

4. Are you allergic to any animals? I'm allergic to cat and dog dander, but if I hang around a pet long enough, I get accustomed to it, and the allergy doesn't bother me. Still, a little Zyrtec now and again would be nice. :)

5. Do you have any 'pet' pet peeves (your pets or others')? I hate, hate, HATE it when my cats somehow sense that I am in the middle of a crucial task and take that very moment to crawl in my lap, on my keyboard, sit on my papers, etc.
Well, we're a-movin' onnnn up (movin' on up)
To the East Siiide (movin' on up)
To a de-luxe apartment in the sky-y-y

I finally got my webspace on Apptech to work. I'll be moving my blog (and everything else) over there in the next few days and weeks. In the meantime, lookie:

My first experience with the Friday Five:

1. What makes you homesick? Mom's cooking. She makes fried chicken with potatoes feel better than a five-star meal at Maxim's.

2. Where is "home" for you? Is it where you are living now, or somewhere else (ie: Mom & Dad's house, particular state/city)? Well, since I was born in Georgia and raised in North Carolina, I consider both home. Of course, since I lived in Aiken SC for so long, I guess I consider that home, too, in a way.

3. What makes it home for you? People? Things? All of the above places has people, places, and things that make me feel at home. In Davisboro, it's the trains running past the old house at all hours of the day and night, and my family, of course. Here in NC, it's the sight of the old Baptist church at the bottom of the hill and the smell of rhodedendrons in summertime. In Aiken, it's lunch at one of the restaurants in the Alley, or taking in a play at the Eth, or any one of a dozen different things.

4. Where is the furthest you've been from home, miles-wise? About 1500 miles, when my family went to visit my uncle in west Oklahoma in 1980.

5. What are your plans for this weekend? Working Sunday night. Otherwise, I have no plans whatsoever. Call me. LOL

My car died yesterday, of massive suckiness. Please take a moment to remember...

MOBY, the Great(?) White Car 1985-2002

Actually, the reports of her demise are greatly exaggerated. I think the alternator is shot on it, and it picked the nighttime- in 10-degree weather, no less- to finally give up the ghost. Luckily my parents are up here from Georgia, and Dad's offered to help me get her running again.

Auditions for Lees-Macrae went well. Speaking with Dr. Speer yesterday, I found out that I am being "Strongly considered" for the shows. They are The Rothschilds, some sort of Rogers & Hammerstein musical review, and The Sound of Music. I really hope I can land the Captain role. *crosses fingers*

I take great comfort in the fact that I am me. LOL

Things are going well on the job front. I had my training for Storie Street this week, and it went amazingly well. If the money is as good as I think it's gonna be, I may end up giving up Mike's in a couple of months. Unless I get a better job before then, in which case BOTH jobs go out the windie. :)

Meantime, I need to figure out what's going on with my car. I have to jump it off almost every time I go somewhere, and it's driving me nuts. It could be the belts, or the alternator, or a short circuit somewhere, but if I don't get it taken care of soon, I'm gonna lose my mind.
